Minimum salary is expected to increase by 2.5% this year which aims to keep the minimum at least 50% of the average wage. The increase is recommended by the Labour Relations Board of the Ministry of Labour. The suggestion, which is to be adopted by the Minister of Labour, will be put on discussion at a meeting of the Labour Advisory Board on Monday but disagreements on the issue of employers’ organizations are expected to be heard. The decree on the minimum wage covers thousands of workers in the private sector which are often not organized in Unions such as sellers, nursing assistants, school assistants, childminders, guards, carers and cleaners.
