EAC reported yesterday that they have successfully brought back into operational state a gas turbine which was destroyed after the explosion at Mari. Even though the EU experts who inspected the power station after the explosion estimated its repair to take at least three months, the repairs were done in the record time of 5.5 weeks. The achievement was accounted to the immense efforts and professionalism shown by the engineers of Electricity Authority of Cyprus who continuously worked on it since the first day including the 15th of August holiday. The turbine is capable of adding a much needed extra 35MW capacity to the grid.
