In just a year’s time Cyprus will have its first casino which will operate temporarily from the upgraded premises of Monte Caputo in Limassol. The temporary location will remain in operation until 2020 when construction of the Casino Resort in Limassol (between MyMall and Lady’s Mile) will be completed. In addition 4 smaller “satellite” casino’s will open in Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos and Famagusta by July 2017. Assuming the tender is awarded as expected in next month to the only remaining contestant Melco – Hard Rock Resorts Cyprus, the temporary casino will open its doors to the public in October 2017. The consortium has already planned the required renovations to the venue to bring it up to the standards of a modern European casino.
Construction of the resort will be the first multi-theme casino resort in Europe, is expected to start as soon as possible, to be completed by 2019 and open in January 2020 and. It will include luxury hotel, numerous restaurants catering for many cuisines, theme parks, water park, bars, cafes, gyms, shops, a conference centre and spas. It will cost 500 million euro and cover an area of 350000 sq metres. It is expected to attract tourists from Europe, Russia, Israel, China and the Middle East.
