Cobalt’s second Airbus A320 airplane arrived to Larnaca Airport yesterday. The first one arrived last month, was certified by the Civil Aviation Department after passing all checks and inspections, and is now painted in Cobalt’s official colors. Unfortunately the initial launch date for the regular passengers flights has slipped from its original date of June 1st because the Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) has still not been issued Cobalt a Commercial Airline Licence. According to information published by Phileleftheros newspaper, the delay is because ATLA has not finalized its decision whether the airline’s shareholder structure meets the relevant European regulation. The Legal Services is seeking external legal advice in order to resolve the issue.
In the meantime prospective passengers have expressed interest to book seats on Cobalt’s flights which is currently impossible as the company cannot have any commercial business activity until it receives the delayed license.
