Angry Cypriots are protesting outside the Nicosia parliament building against the Cyprus government’s management of the recently established Cyprus problem.
The ‘Solidarity Fund’ which is what the Cyprus president is presenting to the parliament would require the imposition of tough controls on banks, in an attempt to secure a much needed bailout from the European Union.
Most of the protesters are employees of Cyprus Popular Bank or Laiki bank which is the bank with the greatest exposure since the haircut on the Greek government bonds!
Of course this people are scared of getting on the unemployment lists since the banking sector in Cyprus was a highly secure career path.
