The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon is meeting today the two Cypriot leaders today in Geneva in an attempt to revive the peace talks. The Secretary General, US, UK and the European Union are pushing for a deal to be made before next July, when Cyprus will be taking over the EU presidency. UN Special Adviser Alexander Downer said yesterday that he hopes the meeting today will bring the talks back to life, he also stated that the past three months were the worse since the beginning of the peace talks in 2008. President Christofias is expected to stress the position that the talks will be accelerated if the discussion interconnects the topics of property, land and settlers, while Dervis Eroglu is likely to ask once more for schedules and deadlines. The meeting will be finishing around 14:00, Cyprus time.
