According to the Minister of Communications and Works, Erato Kozakou Marcoulli, Cyprus will have its own modern railway network within the next 10 years, revealing today that a study on the railway network which will be connecting all towns will be complete by November. In the meantime another study on the same topic that was recently performed by the University Of Cyprus has shown that a government owned railway will take only 15 years to earn back the initial expenses and will bring around 60 million year in profits. Moreover it will lead to a substantial reduction in pollution due to lesser use of private cars on the highways resulting into better the quality of life. The public appears to also be for the idea of a railway; in a survey 73% answered that they want a railway in Cyprus.
