Cyprus and Greece are both taking the case of Turkey’s nuclear plans for Akiougiou to the European Union. The case will be put on discussion on Monday at the ministerial meeting in Brussels on the topic of nuclear energy. Even though Akiougiou area is highly seismic and it would be unwise for Turkey to proceed especially in light of the recent events in Japan, Turkey appears to be speeding up their plans. Moreover Greek Prime Minister Papandreou, had the opportunity today, to reiterate his position over Turkey’s nuclear plans during a telephone conversation he had with Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan on the issue of Libya.
