Last Friday was the deadline for companies who wanted to bid for the provision of the new traffic camera system for the roads of Cyprus. Five companies have submitted their bids. The new system will use 304 total cameras 183 for traffic lights, 94 fixed cameras for monitoring speed limits in high ways and 27 cameras will be mobile. The system will cost about 33 million euro, will take five years to complete and is expected to reduce the number of accidents by 30%.
Can you think of anything better for our society we could spend those 33 million on?
