The European Court of Justice has ruled that member states can ban exclusive showing of the World Cup and UEFA Leauges on pay/subscription TV.  This means that a European country can ensure if required that these events are broadcast on open / free to air channels only. The case was brought the the court after the decision of Belgium and Britain that these events are of national importance and should be made available to everyone.

So what will happen in Cyprus? Is it time someone takes the national leagues to the European Court as well? Its unimaginable that in Cyprus you must pay more than 100 euro per month if you want to watch all the games.
